Group Rides

We meet most Sundays at Swinton Civic Centre at 9am for rides out into the countryside around Cheshire or Lancashire.
Due to Covid-19, we are limiting our group sizes to 6 or less. You MUST mark yourself as "Going" on the event on the members Facebook page no later than 24 hours before the ride.

We categorise our rides in the following way:

A - Social Ride - Average pace is below 14mph.
Terrain is usually flat and distance is 25-40 miles max.

B - Intermediate Ride - Average pace between 14-16mph at distances up to 70 miles.
Terrain will vary from flat, mixed or hilly rides. This is aimed at the 'intermediate' rider.

C - Advanced Intermediate Ride - Average pace between 16-18mph at distances up to 80 miles.
Terrain will vary from flat, mixed or hilly rides. This is for experienced riders.

D - Advanced Ride - Average pace 18mph+ at long distances (above 80 miles).
Terrain will vary from flat, mixed or hilly rides. This is for experienced riders with advanced levels of fitness / ability.

Early Birds Ride - Similar to D ride, except this ride typically starts at an earlier time of 6:30am, suiting those who have afternoon commitments. Average pace 18mph+ and generally long distances (above 80 miles).
Terrain will vary from flat, mixed or hilly rides. This is for experienced riders.

The descriptions of these categories are guidelines only and may vary slightly based on the overall ability of the group on the day.

Riders are responsible for their own safety and must be confident in both their fitness abilities and ability to ride their bike before attending club rides.

Riders must, as a minimum, carry a spare inner tube, pump / CO2, tyre levers and the appropriate clothing for potential turns in weather.

We encourage people to join us for 2-3 rides before making the decision to become a paid member of the club.
