Group Rides
Our weekly club rides are the heart of the club — a chance to ride together and socialise. Rides set off every Sunday morning from various points around Salford, and we aim to run several options to suit different abilities. Start points, times and which rides run can vary week to week, so please keep an eye on our Facebook pages for the latest details.
Ride categories
| Ride | Avg pace | Distance | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A — Base | 12–14 mph | 30–40 miles | Beginners. No-drop pace, café stop included. |
| B — Intermediate | 14–16 mph | 40–60 miles | Steady but social. No-drop pace, café stop included. |
| C — The Early Birds | 16–18 mph | 80+ miles | Experienced, regular riders. Café stop included. |
Pace and distance are guidelines and may vary with the group on the day. Rides aren't held in every category every week, and may be cancelled at short notice in bad weather.
Beyond the Sunday rides, members also organise extra outings during the week — from midweek social spins and off-road rides to beginner-friendly sessions and longer century rides. These are announced on our Facebook pages.
Before you ride
Make sure you have:
- A helmet — these must be worn at all times
- A spare inner tube, a pump or CO2, and tyre levers
- Clothing suitable for changes in the weather
- Mudguards from late October to late March (compulsory outside British Summer Time)
- Front and rear lights when conditions require — a rear light is strongly recommended
- Emergency contact details, kept somewhere easy to find
On the ride:
- Follow the Highway Code at all times
- No tri-bars or aero bars, and no headphones or phone use while riding
- Be prepared for mechanical problems, including making your own way home if necessary
New to the club?
You're welcome to come along for 3 free trial rides before deciding whether to become a member. Road, hybrid, gravel and mountain bikes are all fine as long as they're roadworthy; triathlon and TT bikes with aero bars aren't suitable for group rides.
For the full ride rules and etiquette, please read our Member's Handbook before your first ride.
